In March 2017 this year it was announced that Tjeu Wijgergangs had made the winning design for a watchtower along the N279. Immediately afterwards, the employees of Nooijen from Oss set to work to actually make the tower. The tower was created with wood that was cut down for the widening of the N279. The idea of building a tower coincided with Heeswijk Castle's plan to rebuild the old motte castle, the predecessor of the castle.
However, if you climb the tower now, you will not (yet) have a view of Heeswijk Castle because of the many trees. However, the provincial government building can be seen in the distance.
A number of benches and picnic areas are available on site.
Heeswijk Castle is a former moated castle near Heeswijk in the Dutch province of North Brabant. The castle dates back to the 11th century.
