This beech forest can rightly be dubbed a woodpecker forest! The typical tapping or drumming of the woodpeckers can be heard all around you when you choose a quiet moment of the day.
The colorful birds are busy pecking insects out of old wood. They also make nests that are gratefully reused by the nuthatch.
Two streams flow through the forest. In some places, the tranquil beech forest transitions into grassland or fields.
Particular are the two old castles located at the edge of the forest: Castle Grasbroek and Castle Limbricht.
