The Graetheide near Urmond is enclosed by the A2 and the Julianakanaal. This 'unassuming' area is actually full of stories and wide views. It is said to have been gifted to the inhabitants by the medieval King Zwentibold and is the place where the very first farmers of Europe, the Linear Pottery culture, built their houses about 7000 years ago.
The area is steeped in history but is also worth exploring today. It is an open, arable nature reserve where birds of prey gather their food. This area is particularly suitable for enjoying on your bike.
