The oldest estate on the walk and the only one that is counted among the Stichtse Lustwarande. It existed as early as the 15thcentury and was in noble possession for centuries; only after the French invasion at the end of the 18th century is it confiscated bythe state. In 1830 a part became private property again and the owner turned it into a real country estate. The mansion was already there; the owner had (by the famous landscape architect J.D. Zocher jr) a landscape garden laid out. The garden is still almost entirely in its original state; The house has undergone various modifications and renovations, the last of which was in 1932. In the course of time, the house has experienced many turbulent events among a multitude of owners who each used it in their own way: as a home, as housing for the German occupiers, as a school, as a boarding school and as an office. It is currently in calmer waters under the possession of Het Utrechts Landschap.
