Description

The Elzetterbos gravel quarry is a former quarry and geological monument in the municipality of Gulpen-Wittem in the Dutch province of South Limburg.
The quarry is located in the Elzetterbos in the northwest of the Vijlenerbos. On the site of the quarry there is still a large block of quartz sandstone.

Part of the walk "Loop from Epen through the Elzetterbos and Geuldal".

In the past, sand and gravel were excavated in the (shallow) quarry, where the sifted sand was used as masonry sand and the gravel was used in the construction of roads.
