Former ammunition storage facility near the ENCI quarry.
The ENCI quarry is a limestone quarry on the Meuse side of the Sint-Pietersberg (part of the Caestert Plateau) in the Dutch municipality of Maastricht. Opencast mining of limestone ("marl") began here in 1926 with the establishment of the First Dutch Cement Industry (ENCI).
Limestone is an important raw material for cement production.
