Our Lady Mother of Holy Hope Church

In the Church of Our Lady of Holy Hope you will discover the wonderful history of the region.
A lot of people are looking up their family tree these days, to find out where they come from.
However, if you do that for the village of Maria Hoop, you will end up with wonderful things. The village, the parish and the church share the same name. Why is that? The Church of Our Lady of Holy Hope was built when the Passionist Fathers, a Catholic order that hardly exists in the Netherlands anymore, moved into the Passionist monastery in 1925.
They worship Mary as the one who carries hope into the world, because she gave the world Jesus. The church and the parish take their name from this. For the community, however, this fact was so special that the village was also baptized Mary Hope. The church is built in a sober expressionist style, as was common in the twenties.
A lot less sober are the stained glass windows, in which you can recognize not only the history of faith, but also local stories. Take a closer look and discover the wonderful history of the region. You can see the Limburg farmers and miners, who are immortalized in the beautiful colors of the stained glass around their patron saints.
