De Kooten is a hamlet in the Dutch province of Friesland. The hamlet is located on the road De Koaten, which is part of the N369, and lies between the hamlet of Kootstermolen on the Rykswei near Twijzel and Kootstertille, which it formally belongs to.
Kootstermolen used to be a hamlet of the village of De Koaten, and since the merger with Kootstertille in 1959 it is often considered part of De Kooten, but according to the Oud-Achtkarspelen foundation it should be considered a separate hamlet.
