Heel was a former municipality in Limburg. The former municipality had 8,448 inhabitants as of January 1, 2009, and covered an area of 25.36 km². On January 1, 2007, the municipality of Heel was merged with the municipalities of Maasbracht and Thorn to form the new municipality of Maasgouw.
The municipality was formed on January 1, 1991, from the dissolved municipalities of Beegden, Wessem, and Heel and Panheel. Before the establishment of Heel and Panheel in 1818, Heel was also a municipality where the village of the same name was the only center.
