The Diem, also known as Diemer Die, is a small river between Diemen and the Diemerzeedijk along the IJmeer and runs east of the village of Diemen, which derives its name from this. The river is intersected by the Amsterdam-Rhine Canal.
The Eerste Diem is connected to the Weespertrekvaart. The Tweede Diem is connected to the Amsterdam-Rhine Canal via a lock. The Derde Diem has an open connection to the canal, and is connected to the IJmeer via the Diemerdammersluis.
