The Van Ghent Barracks is a barracks of the Marine Corps located at Toepad 120 in the Rotterdam district of Kralingen. The construction of the barracks started in 1940, although the first spade went into the ground in 1938; most construction companies found it too risky to take on such a large construction project in that uncertain time. Only the concrete skeleton had been poured when the German occupation broke out and construction had to be halted. The Corps ceased to exist. Immediately after the war, construction resumed, and in 1946 the barracks were completed, allowing the Corps to return to Rotterdam.
