Village Church Bodegraven

Historic village church with a tower. Replaced an older church from the 13th century, which was originally dedicated to St. Gallus. Bodegraven was, on the border of Holland and Utrecht, by definition a contested area. The church has therefore not been spared. After the French invasion, the nave was rebuilt in simpler form. The old Gothic choir withstood the attacks. The 15th-century tower is the oldest part.

Dutch Reformed Church. Late Gothic church with a three-nave ship and an elongated single-nave choir with a five-sided closure. Against the north and south facade of the ship, a chapel with a gabled facade. Burned down in 1672, after which the interior was completely renewed. Against the southern side aisle, an 18th-century portal with fluted pilasters and pediment. Consistory room from 1829. Internally wooden vaulted ceiling. Among the inventory are an oak pulpit with a copper lectern and a baptismal railing with a copper lectern, all after the fire of 1672; a richly carved organ case in the Louis XV style, made in 1761 by H.H. Hess with an organ gallery; five simple benches, 18th century; a wooden portal framing, 18th century; five 18th-century psalm boards with carved framing; seven simple text boards and name lists of preachers, 19th century; two copper candlesticks, 18th century, on the baptismal railing. Several gravestones from the 17th and 18th centuries.
