The Kilsdonk Mill has a long history. One that dates back to the thirteenth century. A time when the mill was of vital importance to many people. Everything has changed, and yet it hasn't. The mills have been restored to their original state around 1880, the stream valley is still as green as ever.
In the thirteenth century, the Kilsdonk Mill was an important pivot in the local economy. The mill was indispensable for farmers, bakers and brewers to be able to practice their trade. For local residents, the mill was an unmissable landmark.
At the place where the Kilsdonk Mill was built, the Aa branched off into a northern and a southern arm: the mill stood on an island, as it were. At the time, it was also known as 'op het Beugt', named after the bend in the Aa.
