The Aa is a stream and downstream a smaller river in the east of the Dutch province of North Brabant.
The canalized stream springs from Nederweert in Limburg and merges at the Citadel in the center of 's-Hertogenbosch with the Zuid-Willemsvaart and the Dommel. Aa and Dommel form the Dieze there, which flows into the Maas just north of 's-Hertogenbosch.
The stream, whose name means water, was canalized in the 1930s.
Due to land consolidation in the 1960s, the old cultural landscape in the Aa valley has changed significantly since then.
Since 1993, the Aa no longer forms a hydrological whole; since then, the upper course is a short influx from the Zuid-Willemsvaart, and the 46 km long lower course is a parallel loop of the canal.
