A quiet spot in this once turbulent village - Griendtsveen was founded in 1885 as a factory village. In the Peat Factory and in the Peel, several thousand workers do heavy work. Peat was a highly sought-after product. Houses were built for the peat workers and beanbten, shops, a school and a church. The hustle and bustle of yesteryear has made way for today's friendly appearance - the village exudes the atmosphere of the past, but has adapted to the developments of the time.
