Railway monument on the former railway line Chemin du Fer International de Malines à Terneuzen, known as railway line (54) Mechelen-Terneuzen, which came into operation on 26 August 1871. Goods such as beets, potatoes and coke were transported on the route, as well as animals and people. The last passenger train Terneuzen-Axel-Hulst ran on 6 October 1951. Freight traffic from Axel to Sluiskil was terminated in July 1968. The artwork made up of two carriages, welded to the rails of a narrow gauge railway indicates that the train is stationary in front of a signal box with metal flags. The monument refers to both reality and imagination spherically-flat. The bronze artwork is by Kees Wijker, Middelburg and was unveiled on 3 July 1997 by alderman J.M. van Schaik.
