Monastery chapel in Sibrandahûs

The chapel of the Klaarkamp Monastery is the name of the church in Sijbrandahuis. The church was founded in 1300 by a noble lord who lived in the stins Starkenburg. Whether the church actually belonged to Klaarkamp is not certain, however. In 1511, Klaarkamp owned here 255 pondemaat (187 soccer fields) of land, which was in the hands of five tenants.

In the choir of the church is the burial vault of the Tjaerda van Starkenborch family, of which there is still a farm existing. In the 16th century, the church was shortened by removing a bay and the dome vaults were demolished.
