Where Etzenrade Castle used to be, you will now find a beautiful area where history, archaeology, nature and landscape, water, education and recreation have been brought together in a special way.
Little remains of the castle, but the moats could be reconstructed through archaeological research. These were excavated in 2019 and now serve as a water buffer.
The canals enclose two islands. On the back island there is an archaeology garden. The island in front of it is the historic site of the ruined castle. There is now a corten steel gate here, which houses the Etzenrader Huisken and the small island
connects with the archaeology garden.
