De Arend is a flour mill in Terheijden. The windmill was built in 1742 by order of the noble family Nassau-Siegen in Breda. A large bricked-in memorial stone commemorates this. After a fire in 1756, the mill was rebuilt. During the French period, the Eagle came into private hands. At the end of the 60s of the 20th century, the mill came into the possession of the then municipality of Terheijden, which had De Arend restored.
In the mill there are three pairs of stones, 2 of which are in operation (one on wind power and one on electric power). The inner rod is equipped with brake valves according to the Fauel system. The mill is still in use and can be visited during opening hours of the mill shop. It is owned by the municipality of Drimmelen.
The mill was milled for many years by Louis Rommens. After his death in 1985, the miller's business was continued by Herman Schipper. Since 1 January 2014, the management of the mill annex shop has been in the hands of Adri Kamp from Terheijden.
