On the west bank of the Amstel, we see a colossal office building. Until a few years ago, it was a white, moldy aberration, Rivierstaete. It was a creation of Huig Maaskant, the architect of the reconstruction in Rotterdam and responsible for the Hilton Hotel in Amsterdam. In 2015, a years-long renovation began, during which the white plastic panels were replaced with glass. Now it is trendy, transparent, and called Amsteldok.
