A la orilla oeste del Amstel vemos un colosal edificio de oficinas. Eso era hasta hace unos años una aberración de color blanco grisáceo, Rivierstaete. Fue una creación de Huig Maaskant, arquitecto de la reconstrucción en Rotterdam y responsable del Hilton Hotel en Ámsterdam. En 2015 comenzó una larga renovación, en la que las placas de plástico blanco fueron reemplazadas por vidrio. Ahora es elegante y transparente y se llama Amsteldok.
