Hoog Kanje is an elongated nature reserve on the east side of Kerckebosch near Zeist. It is a southwestern spur of the Austerlitz State Forestry. The area consists of an alternation of hills, hillsides, ridges and flatter parts. It is mostly covered with forest, but on the southwest side is a heathland with old flying pines. On the northwest side there is a relief-rich dune area and a part that is overgrown with coniferous and deciduous wood. By keeping it partially open, the forest can rejuvenate itself in a natural way.
