The Dokkumer Ee is a canal in Friesland between the cities of Leeuwarden and Dokkum. It crosses the municipalities of Leeuwarden and Noardeast-Fryslân. The river is an important shipping route in the north of Friesland. It connects Leeuwarden to the Wadden Sea via the Lauwersmeer. The Dokkumer Ee is also part of the "Elfstedentocht," a long-distance ice skating event.
