The house De Parck was a castle in the Dutch village of Elst, in the province of Gelderland. The name would mean 'enclosed place', or refer to the specific rectangular allotment at this location. The house of De Parck does not appear in the loan registers and must have been an allodial property. The oldest mention of De Parck dates from 1437 and speaks of a 'building' with 55.5 morgen of land, with Gerrit Schoenswaen as owner. He is expected to have received it from his father Hendricx, and it was probably a large farm at that time. In 1442 Gerrit and his wife Bele dedicated the property to Jan Dass. On that occasion, it was described as 'a house and homestead with a stone room': this can be interpreted as a farmhouse with a separate residence for the lord of the land, the gentleman's room. After the death of Jan Dass, De Parck was divided between his two daughters.
Nowadays Park Lingezegen. Park Lingezegen is located in the Over-Betuwe, a region that has been heavily dependent on the river Rhine. The Rhine has had several courses over the past 10,000 years. The difference between high (dry, sandy stream ridges) and low (wet bowls of heavy clay) has been essential in the formation of the area. Sub-area De Park is the northernmost part of the Lingezegen Park and is located between Arnhem-Schuytgraaf and Elst. This sub-area most closely resembles a city park. A mosaic of avenues, woodland and open areas, intersected by paths, offers plenty of opportunities for recreation.
The sub-area is named after the former De Parck Castle, the contours of which and the driveway can still be recognized. The Roman Ribbon, a striking wide park zone, runs right through De Park. In this zone there is a waterway with an elevated and paved path of 5 km, located on an old course of the Rhine in Roman times.
