The water tower of Bussum is located on the Bussummergrindweg, on the edge of Bussum near Bussum Zuid station and overlooks the Bussum heath and the buildings of Bussum-Zuid. The water tower was built in 1897 to a design by Ir. H.P.N. Halbertsma and is no longer in use as such.
Because there are no significant huggen (mountains) in Bussum, it was a high water tower with initially a height of 35 meters and a reservoir of 200 cubic meters. The tower was part of the nearby pumping station and water abstraction area and owned by the Bussumsche Waterleiding Maatschappij
In 1967, a renovation was carried out in which the mantle around the water reservoir was replaced, allegedly to prevent parts of the outside of the tower from falling down. After this renovation, the height was only 30 meters.
It has currently been converted into an office centre that is completely climate neutral.
