On the Provincialeweg from Zuiddorpe (NL) to Moerbeke-Waas (B) is border post 294 near the hamlet of Rodesluis. The border crossing is clear from the varying road surface.
Several customs posts have stood here, both made of wood and stone. Since January 1993, many formalities and internal border controls have been abolished within the European Union. But under special circumstances, e.g. in 2001 during the foot-and-mouth epidemic in the Netherlands, this border crossing was blocked. From post 294 the border runs through the middle of a branch of the Zoute vaart (Polderkreek). When the water level is low during the winter level, you can still see a few cups of the oak poles that, from 1878, stood in the water as boundary signs. Between No. 294 and No. 295, 13 piles were driven to protrude 0.80 m above the water level. The head was protected by an iron "cap". Because the part of the piles above the water level has rotted away, so little of it can be seen.
