The Stadionplein was for a long time a parking square, with the famous Febotent. There needed to be something done about it. The municipality engaged urban planner Floris Alkemade to collect ideas from the residents for the design. These were developed by the firm West 8. Do you think the result is successful?
Nice are the two pavilions that Jan Wils already designed for this square in the 1920s. They stand between two sturdy buildings. The northern building with apartments is designed by the firm of Cees and Diederik Dam, responsible for the Stopera from 1986. The southern building, with the enormous cantilever, is by Kollhof and Pols architects and is a hotel.
