The Oude Buisse Heide is a nature reserve and estate in the municipality of Zundert in the village of Achtmaal, covering over 200 hectares.
In 1945 it was donated by Henriette Roland Holst to the Vereniging Natuurmonumenten.
The area consists of forest, heath, and fens.
In wet areas, one can find plants such as sundew and mugwort.
On the eastern side, the Oude Buisse Heide connects to the nature reserve Wallsteijn, which is also owned by Natuurmonumenten and covers over 100 hectares.
In 1945, writer and politician Henriette Roland Holst (1869-1952) donated this special nature area to Natuurmonumenten.
The owner spent many summers here with her husband, visual artist Rik Roland Holst, in the Angora Hoeve (Buisse Hoeve).
The Oude Buisse Heide has been a source of inspiration for the Roland Holst couple.
Here you have a view of a former peat canal.
A sound measurement has been carried out here.
