Meerle Chaam GPS RECORDING 4 JUNE 2022
The Bleeke Heide is a meadow bird reserve realized as part of the land development project Baarle-Nassau and is part of the Chaamsche streams. The area is managed by Staatsbosbeheer. However, the grasslands are still grazed by cattle from local farmers and the management of pools and blackberry rolls is done in collaboration with the local nature association Mark en Leij. You can see partridges and hear quail here and over the years a wide range of wader species have been observed: grey fringed leg, crooked sandpiper, striped sandpiper, temminck's sandpiper... and much more.
The viewing screen is accessible all year round. Sandy roads and paths have been built around the fen area. These trails are closed from November 15 to March 15, then this resting area is for the waterfowl and waders.
