This gravel route starts from Gennep (parking lot behind the Aldi) and goes clockwise. Almost 61% of the route consists of gravel roads, see below the list and length of all gravel strips.
You first cycle through the floodplains of the Maas and the catchment area of the Niers, and along the Achterbroek nature reserve on many gravel roads. After a short passage through Mook, you climb the Papenbergseweg along the Mookerheide: a narrow gravel path with sometimes some loose gravel (wider tires are useful here in dry conditions). At the top you have a beautiful view over the Mookerheide. You continue cycling on gravel roads through the woods between Mook and Groesbeek.
Then you cycle towards the Reichswald, with some intermediate gravel roads. As soon as you enter the German Grafwegen, you dive into the Reichswald. First you get the ascent of the Jan, partly gravel partly good forest road (you also have to go through a gate). You then cycle on quiet asphalt roads along the Reichswald. Further north you dive back into the Reichswald, here too you have to pass through a gate. You climb the Beginnenberg, partly asphalt, partly gravel. At Frasselt you have to go through a gate and cycle along the Reichswald. Further east you go back into the Reichswald and yes, you first have to go through a gate. Now follow long straight gravel roads with climbs in them (such as those of the Mussoolsenberg), sometimes interrupted by pieces of asphalt such as the final part of the ascent of the Geldenberg (beautiful surroundings!), and about a kilometer on the cycle path along the B504 (descending direction). In the Reichswald you get a few times pieces of gravel of 5 to 6 kilometers in length. When leaving the Reichswald you have to pass through a gate.
Then you gravel another 4 kilometers along the Reichswald over the Grensweg on the Dutch side, but after Ven-Zelderheide you dive back into Germany. Now mainly asphalt roads follow until you cycle onto the Boxteler Bahn at Hommersum: a gravel cycle path over a former railway line. This takes you to Gennep, where you end with the gravel cycle path over the Niersdijk.
