Marina and Ton explore Utrechtse Heuvelrug and Kromme Rijngebied

In every season, this is a beautiful bike ride through the forests of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug and along the meadows and fruit trees in the Kromme Rijn area. You will pass the Asparagus Field in Doorn and the Zanderij Maarn, through the village of Maarn, which was created by sand extraction, along the Leersumse Veld and the Breeveen heathland. After the Darthuizerpoort and Broekhuizen Castle, you cycle through the hamlets of Darthuizen and the Steenen Brug to the picturesque town of Wijk bij Duurstede. Then you cross the Kromme Rijn and cycle along the Langbroekerwetering back to the starting point. Detailed information about the history and geology of this area in particular is given under Sights.
