You cycle towards the Almelo-Nordhorn Canal and follow this canal for a distance of 8 km (with several sections of narrow paved bike path). Via Hertme and Zenderen, you cycle to Delden, where you can view castle Twickel via a small detour. At Delden, you briefly follow main roads and then cycle along the Twente Canal. And then you quickly arrive in Diepenheim where you pass by four castles, namely Weldam (along a bumpy cobbled road), Nijenhuis, Warmelo, and Huis Diepenheim. Between Castle Warmelo and Huis Diepenheim, you follow an unpaved (gravel) bike path for a distance of 500 meters.

The route then heads towards Markelo through the slightly hilly landscape with cobbled roads. You climb the Kattenberg (Traasweg), Markelose Berg, De Hulpe, and the northern side of the Herikerberg. Via the Side Canal to Almelo, you cycle towards Almelo and Tubbergen through very rural areas, but you do not pass through the towns. Between Albergen and Tubbergen, you cycle along a narrow paved bike path next to the nature reserve Monnikenbroek.
