Eurode walk nr 1 Buckriders Route

In Limburg, the eighteenth century was the era of the Goat Riders: the legendary band of robbers that took its name from the mythical figures who thundered through the air on goats. You will not encounter any robbers on this route; dense forests and monastery walls that make you feel like you are back in those days. The starting point, the ancient Rolduc Abbey, is located in a particularly beautiful area. The tour then crosses the border to Burcht Rode in Herzogenrath, Germany. Many Goat Riders were interrogated and imprisoned here. Further on you pass the Baalsbruggermolen on the meandering border river Worm, the only abbey mill in the Netherlands.
