Car: starts at the Uilentoren, at the top of the Lomboklaan* in Leersum, municipality of Utrechtse Heuvelrug, the Netherlands. Free parking.

Bus: line 50, stop at the bottom of Lomboklaan in Leersum, within walking distance of the departure point.

At any time of the year, this is an impressive walking route along the forest plots north of Leersum, which suffered enormous damage during the fall wind on Friday afternoon, June 18, 2021. The exceptional winds destroyed a large number of houses and more than 730 hectares of nature in less than a minute. The clear-cutting around the starting point and at the Tomb of Nellesteijn speak volumes. In the Breeveen, a wide strip of forest was completely blown flat. But other places in Leersum and surrounding forests also suffered a lot of storm damage that afternoon.
