About the route

As soon as you ride out of the center of Oisterwijk, you enter the vast Brabant nature. First along the water-rich Oisterwijkse Bossen en Vennen.

The many small ponds were created during the last Ice Age. Further on, you pass the stream Rosep and reach the heath fields of the Kampina. When the mist makes the white cotton grass dance, the atmosphere here is magical. You hear curlews, tree pipits, and European stonechats, and you will probably encounter horses or cattle. Dragonflies dance around you like little fairies.

Via Vught and along recreational lake De IJzeren Man, you cycle on to the Loonse en Drunense dunes. Here, the sand drifts where it wants to drift. Sometimes a tree root creates a new dune, under which trees nearly disappear. No wonder they also call this sandy expanse the Brabant Sahara.
