This 47-kilometre-long cycle route takes you through the area around Bergeijk, where the British scouts were the first to arrive on Dutch soil. In the run-up to Operation Market Garden, these scouts almost managed to reach the river Dommel. In the Kempen region there are countless stories of courage and struggle. The early arrival of the British brought hope, but there were still many challenges to overcome before the liberation was a fact. The locations of crashed planes and the stories about the difficult passage of the British tanks bear witness to this turbulent period.

The Liberation Route Brabant tells the story of the liberation, but also shows what the Second World War meant for ordinary people in Brabant. Eight cycling routes, spread across North Brabant, lead you past Brabant Reminders stories, listening columns of the Liberation Route Europe, monuments and museums, which together make the impact of the war on North Brabant visible.
