Montferland 12345 Elten -> Wehl

The route takes you over the hilly area of Montferland with beautiful views, lovely landscapes, and historic buildings. During the walk, you will receive information about the landscape and its (re)design over the centuries. 

This hiking route from Elten to Wehl is overlapped by five loops that connect with each other. These loops showcase more interesting spots in Montferland.

The starting point of this hike is the train station in Elten, Germany. The endpoint is the train station in Wehl, Netherlands. This makes the route easily accessible by public transport from Arnhem, Doetinchem, or Oberhausen. Just 300 meters from the starting point, there is a supermarket where you can do your shopping for the day. A few hundred meters further, at the Eltener Markt, there are warm bakeries (with a lunchroom) and catering options available. This is also the case for Zeddam (halfway through the hike) and Wehl (the endpoint). The hike can be completed in one day. However, for those who want to take it easy, start later in the day, or wish to walk one or more of the short overlapping routes, staying overnight in Elten, ’s-Heerenberg, Zeddam, or Wehl is an excellent option.
