Iron Man and Laurabos - orange - 6.1 km

You pass by various ponds, through diverse nature with forests and heath, and along the large IJzeren Man lake. The walking area is located southwest of Weert and is approximately 100 hectares in size. It is named after the steam-powered, iron dredging machine on rails that was used from 1910 to 1913 to extract sand. The Grote IJzeren Man and the Kleine IJzeren Man are lakes that remained after the sand extraction. The Zwanenven, Geurtsven, and Eendenven are typical heath ponds located in the lower areas of this gently rolling dune landscape.
In the IJzeren Man area, there is plenty to experience; additionally, it is the gateway to the KempenBroek. With various attractions in one area, both young and old can easily fill a day out. The Nature and Environment Center De IJzeren Man is highly recommended. You can explore nature together by visiting the exhibition, the garden, or even engaging in activities at the hands-on area.
