Here you will find real sand dunes with characterful trees and remnants of former extensive heathland plains. The forest mainly consists of Scots pine, planted around 1900 for mining purposes. Gradually, this forest is being transformed into a more natural and species-rich deciduous forest. Along the way, you may encounter Highland cattle. You walk past several peat bogs and through the heath of the military domain.
