Stage 3 Vechtdalpad, Ommen Mariënberg

Hiking in the Vechtdal has a long tradition. The first hiking guide for the Vechtdal dates back to 1903. Since then, hiking has only gained popularity and a large number of routes have been created in the area. The Vechtdalpad is a long-distance hiking trail, and since June 2013, the route runs through the Samtgemeinde Emlichheim from the border to Hoogstede. The Dutch section from Zwolle to Gramsbergen is divided into four day stages, which start and end at a train station, ranging from 14 to 22 kilometers. Stage 1 from Zwolle to Dalfsen Stage 2 from Dalfsen to Ommen Stage 3 from Ommen to Mariënberg Stage 4 from Mariënberg to Gramsbergen Crossing the border From Gramsbergen, hikers can now cross the border, this extension offers an additional 30 kilometers of hiking pleasure. On the German side, the first stage runs upstream through the Samtgemeinde Emlichheim. On the way from Laar, via Emlichheim to Hoogstede, hikers cover about 22 kilometers. The route partly runs directly along the banks of the Vecht, and in some places it winds through a park-like environment.
