A 12 km long circular walk from Weesp Fortress, along the winding Vecht through the beautiful
Aetsveldsche Polder. This route is indicated with hexagonal ANWB signs.

The Fortress of Weesp and the Fortress Muiden were the most important parts of the north-east side of the Defence Line of Amsterdam. The walk takes you successively past Fort Uitermeer and Fort Hinderdam. There is a hiking trail around Fort Uitermeer. A pavilion is located in the restored and partly restored TorenFort Uitermeer (1873).

Fort Hinderdam, located on an island, can be reached via a narrow connecting road. This Fort is not open. Weesp has been an important fortified city for centuries. The walking path through the Aetsveldsche Polder runs over the bank wall of an old Vechtstroom. In this area finds have been made of habitation from the third century BCE.
A nice circular walk, partly on paved roads (along the Vecht), partly on grass paths.
