Jos Gemmekepad

The route starts from the TOP Nieuwkoop and goes over the Jos Gemmekepad.

The Jos Gemmekepad is a hiking trail through the Ruygeborg nature reserve, a pearl in the Nieuwkoopse Plassen area. All kinds of animals live here such as the hedge frog, northern vole, bittern and the little karekite. The trail is named after Jos Gemmeke, who was a resistance fighter in the Second World War. On 10 March 1945 she was parachuted over the area and ended up in a ditch. She was brought to safety by the Nieuwkoop resistance fighters.

From sunrise to sunset you can walk freely on the path.

The hiking trail is directly accessible from the TOP Nieuwkoop.
