The route starts at Rhoonse Grienden and leads through an elongated nature reserve, the Rhoonse Grienden, by the Old Maas. Grienden are wet fields where willow is grown. In the past, the branches were used to make baskets and zinc parts, among other things, for the Delta Works. The Rhoonse Grienden are located - along with the adjacent Carnisse Grienden - outside the dike and are therefore influenced by tides. The dike-free location is unique for the Netherlands. This area features a special flora and fauna.
