AzureThe Kampereiland is the delta area of the IJssel. Until the late Middle Ages, the delta consisted of at least six islands, silted up by the IJssel. The territory of Kampen has expanded considerably over the centuries due to the siltation. The Kampereiland forms the largest part of this. Enclosed between the IJssel, the Ganzenziep and the Goot, it was only accessible by ferry or rowing boat. After the construction of the Noordoostpolder, there were fixed riverbank connections at Kampen and at Ramspol.
