A flat route through the polder and dike landscape of Hulst along the Western Scheldt with a beautiful view of the drowned land of Saeftinge from the terrace of the pavilion on the dike in Paal. The comings and goings of sea ships to and from Antwerp and the tidal nature of salty mud and salt marshes: an important connection for a healthy and natural food chain.
Along the Spanish Line, on the east side of Hulst, one enjoys the shady greenery and well-drivable dirt paths. We return through the Grauwse Gate to the fortified town of Hulst and take our time for a visit to a café.
