This route leads from the parking lot near the Abbey of Lilbosch (not far from Echt) through the German Selfkant to South Limburg. The Selfkant is a gently hilly agricultural landscape with sometimes nice villages. In South Limburg, the route completely circles the plateau of Doenrade, ascending and descending the plateau several times. After that, the route goes back to Germany along the paved cycling path next to the Rodebach (Roode Beek). Subsequently, the route goes through the Selfkant via the municipalities of Gangelt and Waldfeucht back into the Netherlands.

The route includes the following climbs (route counterclockwise):

- Kievelberg (climb in Selfkant, actually hardly worth mentioning)
- Hillensberg (this climb is still completely in German territory)
- Schelberg (northwest)
- Eekerweg
- Sweikhuizerberg
- Slakweg
- Wolfhagen
- Boompjesweg
- Taubenberg (short climb in Selfkant)

Both in South Limburg and in Germany, the route often goes over paths that are closed to motor traffic (except for agricultural vehicles). This means that after periods of rain and during the harvest season, these paths can be muddy or sandy in some places, or that water can remain in low points along these paths. Furthermore, some spots on these paths (just before entering Sweikhuizen (road: Duistergatsken) and just before entering the hamlet of Etzenrade) are in less good condition. Additionally, you will ride over some hollways, where sand may have been washed out from the surrounding fields after a rain period.
