This 17-kilometer bike tour pays attention to the monuments and peat canals in and around Etten-Leur.
The cycle route mainly goes through an open polder landscape around Etten-Leur.
After the ice age, the ice began to melt, forming puddles in the landscape.
Over the years, peat layers grew there, which were later used as fuel in the Middle Ages.
Due to the high demand for raised peat, the peat industry arose in the Low Countries.
To remove peat from the peat extraction areas to, among other things, To transport Bergen op Zoom, Roosendaal, Oudenbosch and Breda, peat canals were dug.
These peat canals and references to these former peat canals can still be found in the Brabant landscape.
Within this route, names Laakse Vaart, Lichttorenhoofd and Lage Vaartkant are references to the former peat canals.
The starting point of this route is at the Municipal Office in Etten-Leur.
The car can be parked in the vicinity of the shopping center.
