Cycling through Meijel, Beringe, and Egchel leads you to Helden and then to Kessel. Via the Kessel - Reuver ferry, you head towards Reuver and cross the border at Witte Stein. Through the Brachterwald, you cycle towards Kaldenkirchen, where the path gently rises to nearly 70 meters in elevation.
You briefly pass through Kaldenkirchen to reach the asphalt bike path along the former railway line Kaldenkirchen - Kempen (for more information see: http://bahntrassenradeln.de/bahn_nw.htm#nw1_02). You follow the bike path for a few kilometers and then turn left to climb Pollenberg. After that, you descend through the village of Oirlich towards Hinsbeck.

In Hinsbeck, there is a ridge (known as the Hinsbeck Heights), which you climb via Oberstraße with a maximum gradient of 10%! Then, you slightly descend through the woods towards Herongen. At Herongen, there is a ridge (the Herongen Heights), where you encounter two ascents.

Via various farm roads (roads that are closed to motor traffic, except for agricultural vehicles), you return to Germany. The first village in the Netherlands is Schandelo. You travel through Hasselderheide to the Velden - Grubbenvorst ferry. Then, you go around Sevenum to Helenaveen, Neerkant, and back to Heusden.
