******************
1. Great Church.
In 1829, the construction of the church was put out to tender and awarded to Gebr. Brouwer from Meppel for a contract price of 7,500,-- guilders plus the old church building.
Mr. W. van Emst from Zwolle was appointed as the architect.
On July 1, 1830, the church was handed over and the construction costs were set at
7,100 guilders.
The church has been remodeled and modernized several times in the 20th century.
2. ’t Olde Gemientehuus.
The town hall of Nieuwleusen, built in 1931, served as the administrative center until January 1, 2001.
The building has a beautiful council chamber, which now only serves as a wedding room.
The municipality's coat of arms is painted on the chimney and on one side of the hall, it reads: "Do not ask what the world says, do what is noble and right."
Since 2001, when Nieuwleusen was merged with the municipality of Dalfsen due to municipal reorganization, the team Dalfsen/Ommen of the national police has been here, Vechtstede Notaries have conducted weddings, and the local radio Vechtdal FM is housed here.
3. Hulsterplas.
After World War II, the Dedemsvaart canal slowly lost its significance
for shipping. By the end of the 1960s, the canal was closed to navigation
and was largely dammed. The N 377 partly runs
on the route of the former canal. Much sand was needed for the filling of the Dedemsvaart,
which is why sand pits emerged here and there. Thus, in Nieuwleusen
the Hulsterplas was created with an area of 5 HA.
In this regard, the municipality of Nieuwleusen had a far-sighted view, allowing residential construction around the
emerging Hulsterplas in 1969. Beautiful places have been created at this Hulsterplas,
where anyone who loves nature can enjoy themselves.
One can hike, fish, and ice skate in winter. A fishing jetty was also established at the pond.
Where the water has disappeared in the Dedemsvaart, we can still see the water
playing an important role in the newly created ponds.
4. Museum Palthehof and the Palthebos.
The Palthebos is named after the Palthe family. In 1754, Arend Jan Palthe became pastor in Nieuwleusen. He remained a preacher in this community for 50 years and acquired many possessions, land, forests, etc. In 1928, Gulia Palthe, the last branch of the family, died.
The Palthehof Museum is also located in the Palthebos.
In 1982, the Historical Association Ni’jluusn von Vrogger was founded in Nieuwleusen.
The long-held desire to establish a museum took shape in 1997 with the construction of the Palthehof Museum.
The museum is shaped like a sheepfold, similar to those that once stood in large numbers in Nieuwleusen. In spring 1998, the museum was opened and the history of Nieuwleusen was made visible.
The Museum Palthehof is open from Easter until the autumn break, from Wednesday to Saturday. Also on Easter Monday, Whit Monday, and during the museum weekend. Opening hours are from 13:30 - 17:00. Groups (from 11 people) by appointment, also outside opening hours.
