Havelterberg

The Havelterberg route takes you through the Drenthe part of the Havelterberg. Partly a forest and nature area, and partly a military training ground. The area consists of dunes, wet and dry heathlands, and planted forests. The fact that people have lived here in earlier years is shown by the two tumuli, the many burial mounds, and the presence of a Celtic field.
In World War II, the Germans established an airport here. The traces, the walled hangars, the runway, and the many bomb craters created after bombings by the Allies are still visible in the field.

Additionally, you will cycle through the cozy towns of Meppel and Ruinerwold, where you can pleasantly stop for a break on a terrace. Get on your bike and discover this diverse route for yourself.
